Company History
Sigma Security Services
was organized as an affiliate company of JAKA
Investment Corporation in February 16, 1982, with the mandate of providing
perimeter and installation security in the company's remote logging concessions
and agricultural plantations which were located in the frontier towns
of Quezon Province and the far flung Samar and Basilan islands. Largely
through the efforts of the security agency, a climate of peace and order
conducive to the conduct of business in the area prevailed, and the company
was able to profitably manage its business in their respective areas of
operation.
The
success of Sigma Security in its initial endeavors provided JAKA Investment
Corporation with the raison d'etre to expand the mandate of Sigma Security
to be the exclusive security service provider for the whole JAKA Group
of Companies. The security mandate of Sigma would now encompass that of
the JAKA Group's different office buildings and warehouse, condominium
buildings and other residential properties. From the paramilitary type
of operations required in the remote areas of operation, Sigma Security
Service had to tackle the entirely different needs of installation, office
and residential security. In order to address the entirely different challenge
that these postings present, Sigma Security augmented its commando-type
field security training with those that inculcated a more corporate outlook
for the Sigma Guard Corps: positive values formation, customer relations,
service orientation, first aid and disaster preparedness. The enviable
result- a well rounded security guardsman who is not only capable of protecting
the company's assets and personnel, but one that also contributes towards
the attainment of the client's corporate objectives as well.
The
turbulent peace and order situation that prevailed in the country during
the latter part of the 1980's saw the rise in crimes against business
and families perpetuated by organized crime syndicates; large scale bank
robberies, kidnap for ransom, home invasion and carnapping incidents saw
a sudden increase in demand for personal security services. Sigma Security
Services responded to the growing threat in two ways: by providing personal
security services to individuals and families, and by offering a security
education program to the private sector.
Capitalizing on its ability
to provide a well-structured training program that proved effective in
over two decades of security service, Sigma Security Services created
in early 2004, a wholly-owned security training academy - the Sigma Institute
for Security and Protection Training (Sigma Security Institute) that provides
security and protection training not only for security guards and protection
officers, but also to individuals who prefer to take a pro-active role
in their personal security and safety.
